Operation Vanessa – FAQ

7/14/10

Statement from Stacey Doss:

“The California Court of Appeal has granted us our appeal request for an immediate temporary stay.  The response states, ‘…the child shall not be removed from Orange County, CA, until further order of this court.’  This means that Vanessa is safe in California, with me, for the time being.  We are elated that the emergency stay is based on the Appellate Court’s concern for Vanessa’s best interest. Today’s decision is one victory in what will likely be a long fight.  We are hoping that this case is somehow precedent setting for all children in this country.”

Statement from Stacey Doss regarding the appeal

“My attorneys have told me that in California, an adopting parent and a child get a hearing in the case of a failed adoption to determine if custody must change or if, perhaps, a guardianship, which permits the birth parent to retain parental rights, is in order. By blindly following Ohio’s orders, the CA court denied me that right and violated my constitutional rights and my daughter’s rights as well.”

Statement From John Dodd, Attorney for Stacey Doss Regarding the Vanessa Doss Adoption Custody Lawsuit

“We are pursuing appeals in the California Court of Appeal. As soon as the paperwork can be completed, we will ask the Court of Appeal in Santa Ana to stay the California orders permitting removal of Vanessa Doss from California after July 16. A stay is vital to ensuring Vanessa’s stability while the appellate court resolves the complicated issues in this case.”

Don’t we have enough broken children already in these United States? They grow up and continue being broken. This time it is avoidable and yet the courts chose to be part of the never endless syndrome to propagate more lost souls.
How many more times will a bad decision be made in regards to children and their well-being?
    Have we forgotten:
1987- death of six-year-old girl Lisa at the hands of Joel Steinberg convicted of manslaughter
2006-Nixzmary Brown a 7-year-old Brooklyn girl, found tied to a chair like an animal. She had been tortured, starved and beaten to death, at the hands of her mother and stepfather who was also molesting her, despite the fact that her teachers, child welfare officials and neighbors were aware of the ongoing abuse.
The list goes on and is so very sadly long. Should we add one more?

I am absolutely appalled at the lengths this man is going to to get a child that he obviously doesnt have the capability of caring for! I am also amazed that the court would even entertain the thought of giving this precious girl to a man that has such a record! If this baby is given to this man I will lose ALL faith in our judicial system! All Vanessa has known is her mother (the mother that has cared for her all of her 2 years of life) and to take her away from her security and what she knows would be an outrage. Please Ohio Courts… If you care at all for the well being of this precious life leave her in the hands of her loving mother. I beg of you!
